Description

The MSU Contactless Child Palm Database (MSU Child PalmDB) was collected to promote the development of contactless palmprint recognition solutions geared towards children. This database was collected in collaboration with the Saran Ashram Hospital in Dayalbagh, Agra, India. The database consists of a total of 19,122 images from 1,023 palms of 515 children with 15-20 images per palm. The images were collected using a smartphone installed with PalmMobile SDK provided by Armatura. The resolution of the images is 1440x1080 and are available in the PNG format. Along with the images, we also provide age and gender information for 444 out of the 515 subjects in the database in the form of a text file. This database may be updated after additional data collection sessions in the future.

Figure 1: Sample images of 12 unique palms in the Child PalmDB along with their age information. The image quality and palm orientation vary depending on the level of cooperation of the child. In some cases, either the operator or the parent assisted the child in opening their palm so that the palmprint is clearly visible for image capture.
